SC ST OBC Scholarship Scheme
The scholarship scheme has been run by ONGC Foundation with the aim of providing scholarships for higher studies to students coming from economically weaker backgrounds of the country. At present this scheme has been issued for the students taking admission in the academic session 2024-25.
ONGC Foundation provides scholarship up to Rs 48,000/- every year to the selected students through this scheme. These scholarships are determined on the basis of the student’s course.
Features of Scholarship Scheme
- The Foundation has set a budget of approximately Rs 9.60 crore for this scheme.
- This is the only scholarship scheme in which 50% seats among the beneficiary students have been reserved for girls.
- This scheme has been issued for students falling in SC, ST and OBC categories.
- In general category, only students falling in EWS category are considered eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme.
- In this, students studying in any professional course after class 12 are eligible.
- Courses like engineering, management and MBBS have been listed in it.
Eligibility for ONGC Scholarship
- The student must be a permanent resident of India.
- The age of the applicant student should be maximum 30 years till August 1, 2024.
- It is mandatory to study in any professional course in the academic session 2024-25.
- For SC ST students, annual family income should be equal to or less than Rs 4.5 lakh.
- For OBC and EWS, annual family income should be less than Rs 2 lakh.
- It is necessary for the student to obtain minimum 60% marks in class 12.
Such students who are not regular students of the institution are not considered eligible in this scheme. Non-candidate students are not eligible to avail the benefits of the scheme. Along with this, any institutions which are not recognized by the State or Government of India are also not eligible to avail the benefits of the scheme.
